Heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder was in the house and watching the fight ringside and cheering on Malik Scott who was the slicker fighter throughout, surviving a ninth-round knockdown to earn a unanimous decision over the 44-year-old Thompson (40-6, 27 KOs). Scott looked like the stronger fighter throughout the fight, but towards the end of the fight, Thomson fought back to make the match interesting by scoring a knockdown.
