Two undefeated fighters, Rickey Edwards met Kent Cruz, met in a 8 round super lightweight bout on PBC on NBCSN Sept. 3, 2016. After a slow start, for both fighters, Cruz found an opportunity in round 2 and capitalized. With 1:25 left in the round, Cruz delivered a lightening quick overhand right hand that sent Edwards to the canvas. Edwards regained his composure in the middle rounds, but Cruz always had the upper hand. Cruz initiated all the action, landing more punches then Edwards and found ways to consistently hurt Edwards with his combinations and the overhand right. Although both fighters were undefeated, Kent Cruz outclassed Rickey Edwards in all aspects of the fight. The judges scored the bout 77-74, 77-73, 77-33, all for a UD victory for Kent Cruz.
